What do you get when you cross a gentle Zen artist who has “always wanted to have a healing farm” with a lightworker “dangerous old woman” archetype who “was already starting to manifest a healing farm?” You get two kindred spirits, twin-flame souls who, on their first date go look at real estate property and one month later manifest the purchase of a 70-acre homestead that will divinely be called The Laughing Forest. That was at the end of 2018.
This is how Divine intervention unfolds when you are living from the soul.
Sari Huhtala bio
When people ask “What do you do?” I say “I live from the soul.” In 2004 I left my career as a managing editor of a business publication, jumping into blank space nothingness as a single mom of three children, with no savings account to fall back on, to live a life of purpose.
One act of forgiveness has the power to transform your entire life. This truth I realized in 2001, after experiencing a profound healing in my life, an initiation of the heart that dissolved my suffering and set me free. It was at a point in my life when I was plagued by debilitating chronic fatigue and back pain, struggling with symptoms of MS, daily headaches, asthma and chronic pain. Forgiveness; that’s where it begins. Clearing past trauma shifted my life from a state of karma to dharma – one that would lead me to live a more soulful life on purpose. Forgiveness expanded my understanding of the deeper roots of dis-ease. Since 2001 I have continued my daily personal practices for conscious living, including chakra balancing, body movement, yoga and spiritual practices, and used medical intuition to heal my body of countless physical afflictions and dis-ease over the past 20 years. This has made all the difference in the world raising my three beautiful boys.
Driven solely by intuitive guidance and my passion as a certified personal trainer and fitness instructor, after jumping ship from my career in 2004 I started offering outdoor fitness bootcamps in 2005, and became a certified laughter yoga instructor and a yoga teacher. Marrying my background in journalism and my passion for wellness, in 2006 I launched a (short-lived) school health magazine, then in 2007 Alive and Fit Magazine, which I continue to publish. In 2009 I opened a personal training, and whole body vibration studio, along with a halotherapy salt room, in Hanmer, ON, then studied to become a reiki practitioner that same year. In 2011 I launched Dance of Joy, annual women’s holistic healing retreats, and in 2012 I opened a halotherapy salt room and organic café in Sudbury, ON.
People would often say “You’re lucky.” There is no luck involved – only conscious living. I have been tested many times, facing countless personal and business crises, but navigating through these tests of initiation becomes easier when you live by the Universal Laws, and understand how these tests expand your soul.
By 2019 I had sold both salt room businesses to make space for the next chapter in my life – The Laughing Forest, and in 2019, I studied shamanism to deepen my connection to the Divine.
I am passionate about organic farming and wildcrafting. Nourishing my family with super healthy, wholesome food has been a priority for over 20 years, and I love spending time in the kitchen with my grandkids. My adventurous heart led me to hike the northern most parts of Finland’s Arctic Circle a couple of times, as well as backcountry hiking the Ottawa Temiskaming Highland Trail.
People would often ask me why I left my career, and I would say “I’m finding my way back home.”
I’m home now.
